Claudette Smith-Boudreaux, O.D.
Dr. Smith as she is affectionately called was born and raised in Church Point, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Church Point High, received a Bachelor’s of Science with a Concentration in secondary eduction from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and received her doctorate of Optometry from University of Houston.
Dr. Smith is licensed in Louisiana as an Optometric Physician with Advanced Procedures qualifications. These advanced procedures allow her to perform minor procedures on the eye lids such as stye and chalazion removals and benign skin growth removals as well as laser procedures to enhance vision after cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment that can eliminate a patient’s use for topical treatment as well as a procedure to eliminate a pressure spike inside the eye. She has been performing these advanced eyecare procedures since 2018, expanding access to care for our community and keeping those patients right here in Crowley.
Dr. Smith performs thorough comprehensive eye exams with specialization in treating and managing pathologies of the eye. She handles majority of the special testing, such as visual fields, ocular coherence tomography, fundus photography, treatment and management of eye diseases that can cause permanent vision loss or blindness. She fits patients in all types of contact lenses depending on their needs and wants and specializes in prism fittings for patients that suffer from double vision from visual deficits.
While earning her doctorate from the University of Houston, College of Optometry, Dr. Smith completed several externships where she was responsible for the eye care of indigent patients and managed many eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and cataract surgery co-management throughout several clinics in Houston and the rural areas of Oklahoma where she serviced the Cherokee Nation eye health clinics. While under the observation of the UHCO Neuro-ophthalmologist, Dr. Rosa Tang, Dr. Smith was awarded the Neuro-Optometry award for achievement in the field. She also worked with many pediatric patients at the Pediatric clinic at the University of Houston Eye Center. Dr. Smith is currently an InfantSee provider.
She has volunteered in the community with ocular education and visual optics yearly with the fourth grade classes at Our Mother of Peace in Church Point and St. Michael Schoo in Crowley as well as vision screenings of school aged children as well as actively bringing education to the community on ocular health and ocular disease prevention with the Rotary of Rayne and Crowley. She is an avid supporter of the Church Point High School Battling Bear athletics, where she was once an athlete, as well as the community churches and other organizations. She also loves volunteering as coach for her daughters’ sports teams.
She is a member of the statewide, Optometric Association of Louisiana and the national, American Optometric Association. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband and their daughters.
Eric Boudreaux, O.D.
Dr. Boudreaux graduated from Church Point High School, later completing a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006 from Louisiana State University. He then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) for four years of clinical training where he received a Doctorate degree in 2010. At UHCO, he had over 1500 patient encounters while completing family practice, pediatric, low vision, cornea, contact lens, and medical eye rotations and externships.
Dr. Boudreaux provided patient care at the University Eye Institute in Houston, where he was trained in Specialty Pediatrics and Primary Care Optometry. He then spent his final rotation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma providing specialty eye care to five separate clinics associated with the Cherokee Nation.
Dr. Boudreaux is board certified to examine, diagnose, treat and manage disorders of the visual system and diseases of the eye and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions. He enjoys helping correct focusing disorders with eyeglasses and contact lenses and prescribing medications to heal eye diseases.
He is licensed to perform minor out-patient laser procedures to treat for secondary cataracts and elevated eye pressure that could lead to glaucoma. At his surgical suite in Crowley, he is equipped to provide local anesthesia and steroid injection to remove eyelid styes and growths. He performs comprehensive eye exams for all ages at both his eye clinics in Crowley and Church Point. He specializes in pediatric care with his fun loving personality.
He is also a member of the statewide, Optometric Association of Louisiana and the national, American Optometric Association.
Dr. Boudreaux is from Church Point and is the grandson of the late Registrar of voters, Martin “Blanc” Venable and Lou Wilda Sibille. His mother, Kathy Boudreaux was previously the 45 year legal secretary for Kenneth Privat and Scott Privat until their retirement of law practice and now serves as Judge Scott Privat’s secretary. Dr. Boudreaux currently resides in Acadia Parish with his wife and daughters.

The Husband and Wife Team
The doctor pair were first high school sweethearts, making their way through eight more years of school, they were married and have two daughters that they love spending time with. They love the beach in the summer, the mountains in the winter and otherwise spend time coaching their girls’ sports teams and volunteering in the community. They have a Christ centered home and are active parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic church in Rayne, LA. They participate in many small groups activities in the church as well.
