Dr. Claudette Smith-Boudreaux
Dr. Smith was born and raised in Church Point, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Church Point High School, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and University of Houston, College of Optometry. Dr. Smith is licensed in both Louisiana and Texas. In Louisiana, she is licensed as an Optometric Physician and in Advanced Procedures.
Advanced Procedures allow both doctors the ability to perform minor procedures on the eye lids such as chalazion removals and benign growth removals as well as laser procedures to treat glaucoma and a clouding of the back surface of the intraocular lens that replaces a cataract after cataract surgery.
During optometry school, Dr. Smith completed several externships where she was responsible for the eye care of indigent patients and managed many eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and cataract surgery co-management throughout several clinics in Houston and Oklahoma. She also worked with many pediatric patients at the Pediatric clinic at the University of Houston Eye Center. Dr. Smith is currently an InfantSee provider.
During her practicing years in Church Point, she has volunteered in the community with vision screenings of school aged children as well as actively bringing education to the community on ocular health and ocular disease prevention. She is an avid supporter of the Church Point High School Battling Bear athletics as well as the community churches and other organizations.
She is a member of the statewide, Optometric Association of Louisiana and the national, American Optometric Association. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband and their new blossoming family.
Dr. Eric Boudreaux
Kassie is from Church Point, LA and has worked in the medical field for many years. She attended South Louisiana Community College and graduated as a Medical Assistant. She is now currently certified as a Paraoptometric Assistant in the field of optometric opticians and technicians. This certification came after many years of training in our office as well as months of study work and preparation for her second certification examination.
Kassie works one on one with the patients and doctors to prep patients for minor surgical procedures and testing. She is also in charge of running all preliminary testing procedures as well as complex medical eye testing performed by only our office in the area such as OCT, fundus photography and iCare tonometry. She is also responsible for ordering lab work for blood tests, CT, MRI and MRA as well as prior authorizations and pre-certifications for medications and testing. She also helps patients with appropriate frame choices that fit and look great as well as adjustments and maintenance of a patient’s frame.
Brittany is a resident of Lafayette, LA and has a background in design and photography. This background makes her perfect for the world of eye care fashion that has become so vivid in our profession. Brittany is responsible for medical reception in regards to scheduling patients for exams, verifying patients’ insurances, referrals to specialists and obtaining medical records and patient information from transfer of care physicians. Brittany has become our optician in training as she has shown a natural ability to help patients choose the appropriate eyewear as well as the highest quality lens materials, options and technology that fits that patient’s lifestyle and profession. Brittany is also working on becoming a successful part of our patient medical care side as she is beginning to work one on one with patient workups for comprehensive eye exams.
